1. Service Description
ExpatPhone is a SaaS web application that provides real-time AI-powered voice call translation, enabling people to communicate across language barriers during phone calls. The service supports 50+ languages and is accessible at https://expatphone.app\.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ExpatPhone. By creating an account or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.
2. Eligibility
To use ExpatPhone, you must:
- Be at least 16 years of age (or the minimum age required in your country to enter binding agreements).
- Provide a valid phone number that you own and have the right to use.
- Provide accurate, complete, and truthful information when registering or using the service.
- Not have been previously suspended or removed from ExpatPhone for violations of these Terms.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use ExpatPhone only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Use the service to engage in any illegal activity or to facilitate illegal acts.
- Transmit harassing, abusive, defamatory, threatening, or otherwise harmful content.
- Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the security features of the service.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or misuse the service without our written permission.
- Impersonate another person or entity.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of our platform.
- Resell or sublicence the service without explicit written authorisation from ExpatPhone.
4. Account Responsibility
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. This includes:
- Keeping your one-time passcodes (OTPs) and any session credentials confidential.
- Notifying us immediately at support@expatphone.app if you suspect unauthorised access.
- Ensuring your registered phone number is kept up to date and accessible only by you.
ExpatPhone is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to keep your account credentials secure.
5. Service Availability
We strive to provide a reliable service and target 99.9% uptime. However, we do not guarantee that the service will be available at all times without interruption, error, or delay. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, or events beyond our reasonable control. We are not liable for any losses resulting from service downtime.
6. Intellectual Property
All content, software, branding, and technology powering ExpatPhone is the exclusive property of ExpatPhone or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your use of the service does not grant you any ownership rights.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ExpatPhone and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the service. This includes loss of profits, loss of data, or damages resulting from translation inaccuracies.
Our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to ExpatPhone in the 12 months preceding the claim.
8. Termination
By you: You may close your account at any time by contacting support@expatphone.app.
By ExpatPhone: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in abusive or fraudulent behaviour, or posed a security risk to our platform or users.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability, intellectual property, and dispute resolution) will continue to apply.
9. SMS Terms
By registering for ExpatPhone and providing your phone number, you agree to receive transactional SMS messages from us. These include one-time verification codes and service notifications related to your account.
We do not send marketing or promotional SMS messages.
Message frequency may vary based on your account activity.
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
To opt out, reply STOP to any SMS from us. You will receive a confirmation and no further SMS will be sent, except where necessary for account security.

10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany and, where applicable, EU regulations including GDPR. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Germany, unless mandatory local consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
